Grass Fed Beef

Meet the Herd.

There are few things more “Vermonty” than lush rolling hills filled with cattle, and for good reason. Vermont’s fertile soils and plentiful rainfall yield an abundance of exactly what a large herbivore needs to thrive - grass. So that’s what we focus on at Whittengale. In fact, you might say we are grass farmers more than anything else, with cattle (and sheep) being the primary tools for managing and continuously improving our pastures.

Right way. Right results.

Grazing, trampling, depositing manure, followed by adequate rest before grazing again is the natural process through which soil is built and the surrounding ecosystem flourishes, including the cattle themselves. We optimize both pasture and animal health by moving cattle to fresh pasture every day.

But it gets even better - these four-legged harvesters convert the grass into protein. In other words, delicious beef for you to enjoy. By eating our grass fed beef, you are partnering with us to create healthy and resilient Vermont soil for generations to come.

What’s your beef?

The beef supply in the U.S. has been steadily shrinking, largely due to a tragic decline of family farms and increased imports. Sourcing animals has become difficult and often means beef finishers need to search far and wide. We are proud to be able to offer our customers not only a premium eating experience, but also the peace of mind that comes with knowing our animals began their lives as healthy calves hopping around our pastures. Eat with confidence.
